Xinglong Lake (Xinglong Lake Wetland Park) is situated in Tianfu New District, Sichuan Province. It was formed by damming the Luxi River and covers an area of 300,000 square metres, with approximately 4,500 mu(Chinese version of acres) of water and an average depth of 2.5 to 3 metres. The reservoir capacity is expected to reach 6.3 million cubic metres by October 2023. The area will also feature green spaces, islands, corridors, and other landscaping facilities. It is surrounded by the Western (Chengdu) Science City, the Chengdu-Chongqing Comprehensive Science Centre, and the Tianfu Xinglong Lake Laboratory.

Xinglong Lake is roughly divided into four functionally different areas: the north shore is a play area, with activity nodes and service facilities for all ages; the south shore focuses on nature and culture, is a nature reserve, mainly to protect the primitive vegetation of Nanshan, for the habitat of wild animals and plants; the east shore, the main marina and the culture of science and technology; and the west shore is the gateway to the new area, built in the shape of the Himalayas, Everest as a prototype 73 character sculpture. Xinglong Lake is also surrounded by ecological projects such as the Jinjiang River Ecological Belt, Luxi River Ecological Zone and Tianfu Park.
